"To protect the Skylark community from wildfire through education, prevention, and preparedness programs that empower residents to create fire-safe homes and neighborhoods."
The Skylark Fire Safe Council was established in 2026 by a group of concerned residents who recognized the growing wildfire threat to our mountain community. After witnessing devastating fires in neighboring areas, these founding members came together to take proactive steps to protect Skylark.
Since our founding, we have grown from a small volunteer group to a thriving nonprofit organization with hundreds of community members engaged in fire safety efforts. We have successfully implemented numerous programs, including annual chipper days, defensible space workshops, and emergency preparedness training sessions.
In 2026, we received official recognition as a 501c(3) orgnization, facilitating our commitment to reducing wildfire risk through community-wide action, such as Firewise qualification, which is working in progress. At meantime, we expand our programs and partnerships to ensure Skylark a fire-safe community for generations to come.
